What the raid chart tells you before the match starts
A raid chart is the most useful single tool for reading a kabaddi match before it starts. Our desk publishes raid charts for every starting raider in the league, updated after every fixture.
Touch points per raid
How often the raider makes contact with a defender. A high touch rate with a low conversion rate suggests the raider is reading the defence but not finishing.
Bonus-point rate
The percentage of raids that earn a bonus point (reaching the bonus line). A high bonus rate with a low touch rate suggests the raider is playing the line, not the defenders.
Do-or-die conversion
The percentage of do-or-die raids that produce a point. A do-or-die raid is the highest-leverage moment of any possession.

What the tackle chart tells you
Tackle success rate
The percentage of tackle attempts that result in a tackle point. The league average sits at 47%; top defenders run at 65-70%.
Super-tackle percentage
The percentage of successful tackles that are super-tackles (a tackle with two or more defenders on the raider). Super-tackles shift the momentum of a match.
Formation adjustments
Our desk tracks the formation adjustments across matches. The left-corner and right-corner are the most common adjustment points.

Touch point
Contact between a raider and a defender. A touch point initiates a tackle attempt.
Bonus point
A point awarded to the raider for reaching the bonus line, regardless of whether a touch point is made.
Do-or-die
A raid where the raider has two empty raids behind them. A do-or-die raid is the highest-leverage moment of any possession.
Super tackle
A tackle with two or more defenders on the raider. Super tackles award two points and shift momentum.
Super raid
A raid where the raider scores three or more points. Super raids happen most often against weak tackle formations.

How we read a kabaddi match before it starts
The raid-chart read is the first thing the kabaddi desk files for any fixture. The chart shows the touch-point rate, the bonus-point rate, the do-or-die conversion and the average raid length for both starting raiders.
The tackle chart is the second read. The chart shows the tackle success, the super-tackle percentage, the formation adjustments and the average tackle attempt.
Together, the two charts tell us which side is likely to win the raid phase and which side is likely to win the tackle phase. The team that wins both phases wins the match.
