How corrections are logged
Every correction is logged within 24 hours of being confirmed. The log entry carries the date the correction was filed, the article affected, the nature of the correction, and the version of the article that includes the correction.
Corrections are not retired. A correction that was filed three years ago is still on the log. The log is the full record of every correction, not a summary of recent corrections only.

14 July — Mumbai wicket brief: corrected the timing of the dressing-room huddle from ‘15 minutes before the warm-up’ to ‘20 minutes before the warm-up’, after the correspondent re-watched the footage.
10 July — DLS explainer: corrected the year of the most recent DLS revision from 2022 to 2023, after a reader pointed out the date.
3 July — T20 World Cup reshuffle article: corrected the name of the side that replaced the withdrawn side, after the ICC published the official replacement list.
What the desk does when a correction is filed
When a correction is filed, the corrected version of the article is published at the same URL. The correction note is added at the top of the article, dated and named. The corrections log entry is added at the same time.
The desk does not delete the original version. The corrections log is the record of what changed and when. The original version is preserved in the version history.
How to report a correction
If a reader believes an article contains an error, the reader can report it via the contact form on the contact page. The desk reviews every reported error within 24 hours. If the error is confirmed, a correction is filed. If the error is not confirmed, the desk responds to the reader with the reason.
The desk does not require the reader’s name to be published. The desk will name the reader only if the reader has asked to be credited as the source of the correction.
